Single Premiere: Trophy Dad – Pretty Girls (Cause Car Accidents)

Victoria’s premiere party rockers, Trophy Dad, have shared their debut single — “Pretty Girls (Cause Car Accidents)” — exclusively with Rocktographers.

Trophy Dad was originally conceived as a two-man cover band featuring bassist Reggie Bast and guitarist/singer, Nevil Meyer. Eventually, the pair added Deriek Simon (Spaceboots, Kytami) on drums to fill out the roster; the band took on a new life and new role for the members. A never-ending therapy session, every live performance is another chance at exorcising their demons in the name of a good time.

Trophy Dad may be lighthearted, but they mean business. For them, rock ‘n roll ain’t a vicious game, it’s a lifestyle.

With a title like “Pretty Girls (Cause Car Accidents),” one could probably guess that the song was once upon a time written off as last-minute throw away tune. The band assumed the song wouldn’t last long in their repertoire, but during their first few gigs, it provided a more upbeat rock sound to get people partying in closet-sized clubs. Since then, the song has grown legs and become a fan favourite at Trophy Dad concerts.

Trophy Dad’s debut music video was directed by the band’s frontman, Nevil Meyer and local cinematographer stud, Ian Locke. The pair hoped to replicate the song’s energy into a fun, action-packed adventure by creating a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the wonderful music videos the 1980s — a decade of fast cars and fast… “women?” Something like that.
