Lo Waight and the Rattlesnakes is an bluesy alternative folk-rock act that calls Victoria BC home. Led by the luminary Lo Waight, the band’s primary songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist is joined by her Rattlesnakes: a ragtag team of local musician all-stars Dave Lawson on keys and sax, Dan Erickson on bass and vocals, and Lucas Johnson on drums. Together, they create a well-rounded and much sought-after sound that attracts fans of all ages and musical tastes.
Sometimes a photo shoot doesn’t work out exactly as you planned, but that’s the fun part of working on creative project. A day or so before this shoot, our location for July’s Band of the Month fell through. We were left to scramble in search of somewhere new and interesting to make Lo Waight and the Rattlesnakes pop while staying on brand.
Despite the quick location change it was Lo’s infectious smile and laugh made this one of the most fun and genuine shoots in Rocktographers’ tenure as The Zone @ 91.3‘s official Band of The Month photographers. It is, hands down, one of our favourite sets of photographs to come out of this partnership.
Catch Lo Waight and The Rattlesnakes later this month when they play one of the biggest local summer festivals, Rock The Shores.
Find out more about the band and download three of their songs for free on The Zone’s website.
Don’t be creepy, but if you look hard enough in a few photos you can see where Tyson lives in the background. Don’t tell him we told you.
