Ah, the Battle of the Bands. Everyone putting on their best show, a panel of judges feverishly writing notes, all the anticipation when the winner is to be revealed . . .
Not so much a thing in 2018 . . . unless you’re Rock the Rink, a battle of the bands put on by West Shore Parks & Recreation, with support from Rock the Shores, The Zone @ 91-3, TC Helicon, and . . . Rocktographers.
Sugar Castle was one of four bands vying for an opening slot at Rock the Shores 2018, and they beat out competitors Tuesday’s Roadkill, The Colts, Fairfield, and The Porter Brothers. One of the other perks of winning was a free promo shoot with Rocktographers, which we carried out in Esquimalt.
Riley (vocals), Jack (guitar/vocals), and Anika (drums) put on a screamer of a show at Rock the Rink and, when the numbers came back, their tight, loud, emotional, punk-loving performance won them top spot.
Watch for them to open Rock the Shores Friday, July 13 at 12:30 pm at the Juan de Fuca lower fields.
