British Columbia based pop powerhouse, XANA returns with her massive single, My Therapist Told Me.
XANA’s latest single, My Therapist Told Me, separates itself from her other work with a distinct hard-hitting pop-punk sound and driven direction. Just as you think things are about to slow down it kicks back into high gear with punctuating drums and catchy lyrics.
While XANA sheds some of her pop sensibilities for punchier punk sound her powerful lyricism and songwriting that she is known for still shine through. Focusing on gaslighting and the frustrations of being led on.
My Therapist Told Me is definitely the song you want to screaming along to when it comes on in the bar. It won’t be long before XANA is in the mix with the likes of Paramore, Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy and All Time Low.
“I was head over heels for this girl who would constantly flirt with me and then out of nowhere she’d say we were “just friends” and apologized if I “got the wrong impression”. I refused to write another sad song about it and instead channelled all my confusion and frustration into this angsty, early 2000’s vibe, pop-rock song. Writing “My Therapist Told Me” was therapy in itself and it pushed me down the path of healing.”
