Victoria, BC-based musician Chris Eriksen has been a staple of the music scene as a notable member of local country rock band Mad Mona and indie rockers Trophy Dad.
With the continued success of his other bands, Chris Eriksen has resolved to make his own overdue mark on the world with his solo project, Skov..
Rocktographers is excited to be premiering Skov.’s debut single “So Cold,” out March 1st. The new single is off the forthcoming R&B inspired EP, Temper, due out later this Spring.
“So Cold” starts off with delicate piano keys and a bluesy vocal distortion that almost seems like a deliberate nod the text messages that would initiate a one night stand. Slowly, the song builds into an explosive climax of organ, drums, and a jangly high energy guitar solo, all while, lyrically, Chris Eriksen takes an introspective look within, knowing that what he is doing is wrong. This song distills the best parts of artists like The Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr., Richard Swift, and Durand Jones & The Indicators and keeps them relevant in new ways.
Chris Eriksen’s original music stems from a much different place than with his bands Mad Mona and Trophy Dad. With his solo project, Skov., Chris wants to be able to show all aspects of his musical capabilities and influences. From his early childhood of love of blues guitar and rock rhythms, to his modern infatuation with electronic and R&B music, Skov. is a culmination of years of being a professional musician with a lifelong love of music and experimentation.
Skov.’s first release, “So Cold,” is a tune with the ever-so-relatable story of a lust for the things we know are wrong.
