Victoria-based indie pop rock act, The Carlines returns with their debut single, Saturday Sugar, off their forthcoming EP, Until They Turn On The Lights.
It’s been four long years since we’ve heard new music from Sjoerd Meyer aka The Carlines. Let’s just say the wait was worth it.
Saturday Sugar is an infectious indie pop song. The song is a slight departure from the more singer-songwriter material we’ve come to love from The Carlines but lyrically still in it’s roots.
The ambient synths, lingering guitar notes and catchy pop hooks of Saturday Sugar are reminiscent of those sunny days lounging poolside or floating down the river. “Been dreaming about you every day of the week.”
If you are looking for a song that’s going to turn heads at your next summer party, Saturday Sugar, is it.
‘Saturday Sugar’ bounces with a steady and infectious rhythm underneath fluid guitars and synths. It’s retro, it’s soulful, it’s indie-pop. With the new EP ‘
’ due out this fall, The Carlines follow up their full-length album. The EP carries the nostalgia of yesteryear and makes you feel good in its entirety with light and sunny hooks. A steady infectious rhythm and bounce throughout the EP allows Sjoerd Meyer’s fluid guitars, synths and effortless production come to light. The EP is nostalgic, fun and optimistic.
