Presented by LiveNation, PUP (Toronto, ON) was joined by Pinkshift (Baltimore, MA) at Capital Ballroom on Friday, April 8th in Victoria B.C. for the first of two sold-out shows.
For Pinkshift, this was their first time in Canada, and they captured the crowd early on in the night with their impressive stage presence. Vocalist Ashrita Kumar jumped, kicked and bounced all over the stage throughout their entire set.
Once Pinkshift had warmed up the crowd, the venue lights dimmed, the stage filled with smoke and a backing track started, signalling that PUP was about to take the stage.
Clad in all black, PUP took to the stage, starting off their set with “Morbid Stuff” and “Kids”. The floor of the venue immediately started bouncing from the crowd jumping.
PUP’s set was filled with hits like If This Tour Doesn’t Kill You, I Will, DVP and Familiar Patterns. The crowd sang along loudly, moshing and crowd-surfing like it was 2019 all over again.
Singer and guitarist Stefan Babcock exclaimed close to the end of the set that they don’t do encores, so the crowd should start chanting for two more songs now.
The band finished off the night with their ‘faux encore’, to much applause.
