The darlings of Quadra Island, Mother Mother, played their first arena headlining show in Victoria at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, and the legion of passionate fans they attract were enough to fill the arena with screams and cheers which could be heard outside.
After opener K.Flay warmed up the crowd (Rocktographers tried to get accreditation to shoot her but, unfortunately, to no avail), Ryan & Molly Guldemond, Jasmin Parkin, Ali Siadat, and new bassist Mike Young (Jeremy Page left the band last year) hit the stage with an arena-worthy performance, slipping in some Ace of Spades into one of their opening tunes, the popular Body of Years (its bridge has a breakdown just asking to be filled with covers like this, before kicking back into the familiar construction of the song you heard in the first three minutes).
Other popular hits played during the show included The Stand, O My Heart, Monkey Tree, Hayloft (with, of course, some Dazed and Confused mixed in), and their current radio hit, The Drugs.
