Ahhh, Rifflandia. That time of year in Victoria that marks the end of summer and the end of festival season for the last ten years (SEPTEMBER FOREVER!). This was my 8th year attending the festival, and 6th consecutive year having the privilege of photographing it.
When you do the same thing over and over, it’s easy to get bored. Now don’t get me wrong, I love this festival and the challenges it brings each year, but I knew it was time for something a little different. As much as I love shooting live music, my passion also lies with portrait work. In the week preceding the festival (and also during!), I reached out to publicists and artists directly to see if we could arrange some quick portrait shoots at the festival. These shoots ranged everywhere from 30 seconds in the middle of an intersection, to 10 minutes backstage in a photobooth and on the park bleachers.
Thank you to every artist who took a few minutes out of their day to stand in front of my lens. I met so many amazingly kind and talented people, and I look forward to our paths crossing in the future!
Without further ado, I present to you Rocktographers’ Rifflandia 2017 Portraits.
