Day 1 of the Phillips Backyard Weekender proved that rain or shine Victoria knows how to party. It may have been wet but fans embraced the much needed precipitation by dancing up a storm. Talib Kweli suffered a nightmare day of travel delays, so the Funk Hunters were flown in to save the day to play a surprise set! Talib later Tweeted, “Today may be the worst travel day I’ve ever had. But I’m in BC. Plane to stage. Now watch me work” and work he did. You would never have guessed he’d had a travel day from hell as he treated the Backyarder to an amazing set. Can’t wait for tomorrow.
