Christina Maria Rieder is a Swiss-Canadian singer songwriter is better known these days by her stage name, Rykka. Having appeared on Eurovision Song Contest in 2016 and having won the Peak Performance Project in 2013, it easy to imagine why she splits her time between her hometown of Vancouver BC and Zürich, Switzerland.
Rykka’s remix album — Bad Boy — was released on March 17th, 2017, featuring remixes of songs from her critically acclaimed sophomore record, Beatitudes.
For this Rocktographers Session, the three-piece of Rykka — supported by Andrew Braun on keyboard and guitar, and Jason Cook on drums —was made much larger-sounding with the inclusion of various triggered samples and backing tracks (with each person on stage contributing), giving the Session a much larger feel than what three people would be expected to produce.
Rykka performed her hit single Bad Boy in one of Victoria’s most well know live music venues, Lucky Bar.
This Rocktographer Session produced in partnership with Cordova Bay Records, an independent record label making rad music here in Victoria, BC since 1998.
