Victoria’s Royal Theatre was filled with “Hicks,” “Skids,” and “Degens from Upcountry” for two very funny live performances with the cast of the hit television show, Letterkenny.
Since Letterkenny’s debut two years ago on CraveTV, it has become an instant classic in Canada. It’s a very Canadian television show, and there’s something all of us can identify with. Letterkenny taps into a similar vein of vulgar comedy with outlandish-but-grounded shows like Trailer Park Boys. The show is full of fast-paced humour and heart.
Letterkenny Live! is a variety show of sorts, but it trades in the singing and dancing for skits, stand-up comedy, and video vignettes made just for the tour.
Throughout the night, Wayne (Jared Keeso), Daryl (Nathan Dales), and Squirrely Dan (K. Trevor Wilson) would pull up a lawn chair next to the fruit stand, pop open a Puppers, and contemplate the big questions in life.
The boys pandered to the Victoria audience by poking fun at our brunch lines and asking where the best place would be to grab a beer after the show. Dropping names like Smiths, Big Bad John’s, Lucky Bar, Saint Franks, and reminiscing about the long -dead karaoke bar, Soprano’s.
Letterkenny Live! was a night filled with hearty laughs and Canadian fun, eh? We would certainly get in a Donnybrook to see them again.
