Many know Sjoerd Meyer as the polite, soft spoken, wisecracking hired gun guitarist for Mike Edel, but it’s his own band, The Carlines, which deserves the spotlight today.
There is a lot of love between The Carlines and Rocktographers. They have been big supporters of ours since the earliest inceptions of what we would become. The band even played as a two-piece at our second YYJ Rocktographers Concert Photography Showcase in early 2014.
In early autumn, Rocktographers and The Carlines got cozy at Infiniti Studios to record several songs for the latest in our series of Sessions. It was an evening full of laughs, good friends, and the occasional inflatable surprise.
Heart is the debut single from The Carlines’ forthcoming album, Closer to You. The song has been featured prominently on local radio station, The Zone @ 91-3 during The Carline’s tenure as Band of The Month, as well as placing #46 on their Top 91 Songs of 2014.
The soaring vocal harmonies, catchy guitar riffs, and all-around polished songwriting of Heart will keep it in your head for days. It’s the best kind of earworm.
